Colin was on The Late Show on Thursday, Sept. 30, when Seth Meyers questioned how the "Weekend Update" host's relatives responded when they learned that his and wife Scarlett's first child, who was born in August, was called Cosmo. Rose, the actress's 7-year-old daughter with ex-husband Romain Dauriac, is also a member of the Black Widow family.

After stating that his family has always been supportive, "My mum, I would say, was little thrown by it and didn't fully comprehend it," Colin acknowledged. I'm not sure if she felt that was a hippy thing or not." 

"After three or four days, she'd phone us and say, 'Cosmo,'" Colin remembered. "'And now, is it final?' she'd ask. 'Did you, for example, provide your birth certificate?' 'Oh, sure, we did that in the hospital,' we say. 'OK, intriguing,' she said. Because I read that there is also a Cosimo with an 'I,' that may be a possibility. Maybe Cosimo, that's his true name, but you can still call him Cosmo.'"

Colin stated that after telling Seth that he didn't see why Cosimo would be preferred, his mother seemed to have changed her mind after speaking with acquaintances in her Staten Island area and discovering that there are other Cosmos out there.

Colin also said during the interview that the couple has yet to officially release a photo of their baby. He stated that he will unveil the first photograph during the broadcast, but it turned out to be a prank.
