Katrina Jayne Dimaranan wrote a lengthy message of "healing" and gratitude on Saturday, just days after being crowned Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2021.
Katrina shared how her ultimate dream of becoming Miss Universe challenged and tested her in an Instagram post titled "Healing."
“The past two months, leading up to today, when I am finally able to write this, have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience and journey. And there isn't a single thing I would change about my Miss Universe Philippines experience,” Katrina wrote.
“It has put me to the test, challenged me, but in the end, it has brought out the best in me. I set my sights on my ultimate goal, but achieving it was not in God's plan for me. "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey," she added.
After failing to win the crown, the beauty queen who represented Taguig City at the pageant expressed her disappointment. She does believe, however, that everything happens for a reason.
“I may not know or understand why this is happening right now, but I am confident that I will in the future,” Katrina said.
“Like many of you, I'm hurting right now, but the pain is a part of the process, and the joy of knowing I left my heart on the stage and gave it my all overcomes the pain. I'll be fully healed, back, and stronger in due time,” she added.
Katrina, who was a consistent frontrunner throughout the pageant, was voted Miss Universe Philippines 2021 by pageant fans and pages.
She, on the other hand, came in second and took home the Miss Universe Philippines Tourism title.
At the age of 18, Katrina won the title of Bb. Pilipinas Tourism in 2012. However, because the Miss Tourism Queen International competition had been canceled that year, she was unable to represent the country.
Katrina was also the United States' first runner-up in the Miss Supranational 2018 pageant.
Despite not winning Miss Universe Philippines, Katrina is grateful for the new sisters she has gained and the memories she will share with her children. She thanked all of her supporters as well.
She expressed her gratitude for knowing that her journey had a positive impact on others.
“With that said, I am beyond grateful to every single person who has been a part of my journey, and I want to remind you to never give up on a dream no matter what the outcome, to stay true to who you are, and to always stay kind and grateful,” Katrina said.
“I can't wait to see what else He has in store for me,” she continued, “but I am ready and fearless.”
Katrina also congratulated the Top 5 Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidates in her letter, which she signed as "relentless Pambansang bes."
Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City has been named Miss Universe Philippines 2021.
“Finally, I am so proud of my Top 5 Queens, and please pray for Beatrice Gomez @beatriceluigigmz, our lovely Miss Universe Philippines 2021, as she prepares to compete for our 5th Miss Universe Crown in Israel! Let's channel our fighting spirit for Bea's fifth crown, and encourage Team Katrina, Team Papaya, KatREYNAs (and others) to do the same,” she said.
Katrina ended her touching letter by promising to see everyone on her next journey.
Last Thursday, the Henann Resort Alona Beach in Panglao, Bohol hosted the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night.
