Stephanie Ruhle To Take Over Brian Williams As MSNBC 11 PM Host

Ruhle has been anchoring the 9 a.m. hour slot.

According to network sources, MSNBC plans to shift Stephanie Ruhle to the 11 p.m. hour, replacing Brian Williams, who anchored The 11th Hour until his departure in December.

Ruhle has been anchoring the 9 a.m. hour, and an expanded edition of Morning Joe is expected to take over that time slot.

Ruhle joined the network in 2016 as a senior business correspondent for NBC News, in addition to her anchoring responsibilities. She previously worked for Bloomberg News as a news anchor. Her departure was first reported by Axios.

MSNBC did not respond to a request for comment on the plans.

Since its launch in 2007, Morning Joe has been one of MSNBC's most popular shows, especially in New York and Washington, D.C. It's a political-media hybrid that's outperforming CNN's morning show in the ratings.

These are some of the most important changes at the network since Rashida Jones took over as president about a year ago. Symone Sanders, the former spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris, has recently joined her as a weekend host on the Peacock streaming channel The Choice from MSNBC. Rachel Maddow's future intentions have yet to be revealed. Despite signing a multiyear deal with MSNBC, she is said to desire to cut back on her nightly schedule.

In November, Williams surprised everyone by announcing that he would be leaving the network at the conclusion of his contract in December. With its mix of journalistic analysis and Williams' wit, his show, which premiered in 2016, quickly developed a following. The show dominated the cable news networks in its timeslot, but Fox News has just surpassed it with Gutfeld!

Ruhle also co-hosted Ali Velshi's daytime show Velshi Ruhle. Despite the fact that the show ended in early 2020, Ruhle was promoted to senior business correspondent, bringing her profile to NBC News.
