WATCH: Juice WRLD Documentary “Into The Abyss” Reveals 1st Trailer

Are you ready to re-live Juice WRLD's journey in the music industry?

The story of Juice WRLD's meteoric rise in the music industry and catastrophic collapse is the highlight of the new HBO Max documentary called “Into The Abyss,” which has just released its official trailer.

The documentary is the sixth edition of HBO's Music Box documentary series, and it features Lil Bibby, director Cole Bennett, and others. The late DMX, Woodstock '99, and other topics have been explored in previous entries. Unlike X's film, which dealt with the concept of reconciliation, Juice WRLD's focuses on the Chicago rapper's adjustment to fame.

“When you’re a fan of this shit, you look at it from a certain perspective,” he says during a segment of the trailer. “But when you in it, you see it for what it really is. I’m still happy I can change the world. But, it’s not what it looked like.”

The documentary will air on December 16, one week after his second posthumous album, Fighting Demons, is released. Legends Never Die, his previous album, opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 list in 2020, with an estimated 496,000 total album-equivalent units sold in its first week, the most for a posthumous album in history.

Juice WRLD died in December 2019, six days after his 21st birthday, from a seizure caused by an accidental overdose. Carmela Wallace, his mother, penned a heartfelt tribute to her son on what would have been his 23rd birthday.

“When you were born 23 years ago, I never expected that you would not be here today celebrating your birthday,” she began. “Although it has been nearly two years since you’ve been gone, I still think about you every day, and losing you has changed my life forever. I’m glad that we always made sure that we said goodbye when we left each other because we didn’t know when we would see each other again.”
