The 79th Golden Globe Awards, which will be held on Sunday, will highlight the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's philanthropic efforts, which The Hollywood Reporter previously covered, with winners being announced intermittently during a 90-minute gathering at the Beverly Hilton, according to the HFPA.

Because of the dire COVID situation and the fact that the HFPA is currently personae non gratae with many in Hollywood, there will be no red carpet and no celebrities, non-HFPA members of the press, or audience members in attendance.

It's unclear whether or how people who aren't in the room will be able to watch the ceremony if they want to — a live stream is a possibility, but broadcasting something as "the Golden Globe Awards" without the participation of NBC, which owns the Golden Globe Awards' broadcasting rights, would presumably be difficult.

As a result of the Los Angeles Times' exposé of the HFPA's activities and demographic makeup in February, NBC has opted not to participate in this year's Globes. Many Hollywood constituencies boycotted the HFPA as a result of the incident, and NBC, its longtime television partner for the Globes, declined to air a Globes event in 2022.

HFPA grantees and Kyle Bowser, svp NAACP Hollywood Bureau, will discuss their work with the organization throughout the ceremony, regardless of what form it takes this year.
