Trailer for George Clooney's Coming-of-Age Drama out now

"The Tender Bar," Stars Ben Affleck as an Inspiring Uncle.

Clooney's "The Tender Bar" debut trailer features Ben Affleck as an adoring uncle. J.R. Moehringer, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, wrote a coming-of-age narrative of the same name, which was adapted by Amazon Studios.

He finds a father figure in his bartender uncle and the customers of his bar, who take him to the beach, to ballgames, and eventually into their inner circle. Moehringer (played by Daniel Ranieri as a boy and Tye Sheridan as a young adult) tells his story in the 2005 memoir.

"I'll always be honest with you. According to Uncle Charlie in the trailer, your father is a deadbeat because he abandoned you as a kid and is a New York City radio jockey. If you need anything, just let me know and I'll take care of you. I noticed you out in the yard, engaged in some sort of athletic activity. You're a mediocre player. Find something else to do." Charlie shows a door to expose a closet full of books, igniting little J.R.'s passion in writing, as seen in an image of him sitting at a keyboard. "I like to read," he adds before.

It then cuts to Moehringer's freshman year at Yale, where he falls in love with a classmate and decides to become a writer like his idol, David Foster Wallace

Earlier this year, Clooney and Affleck teamed together as co-producers on "Argo," which won the Academy Award for best picture along with Clooney and his producing partner Grant Heslov.

The Tender Bar is being produced by Clooney, Heslov, and Ted Hope under their Smokehouse Pictures banner. "The Tender Bar" was written by William Monahan, who earned an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for "The Departed."

The film will premiere in select theaters on December 17th, followed by a wide release on December 22nd.
