On Sunday, September 26, 2021, Netflix made the announcement at TUDUM, an online fan event that the entertainment giant sponsored.
Sex Education will return for a fourth season, Netflix said in a 15-second teaser trailer. Season three began on September 17, 2021, and we now have official confirmation that the show will return for a fourth season.
The show's creator and executive producer was Laurie Nun. Executive producers include Ben Taylor, Jamie Campbell, and others. Eleven is the studio behind the show's creation for Netflix.
From the start, "Sex Education" was well received by critics, having a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 96 percent on average. The show's script, cast performances, and intelligent treatment of sexual themes focusing on the litteral educational side of sex and sexual desires, have all received high praise. As a result of its success in 2019, it has been nominated for several accolades, including the BAFTA TV Award for best female comedy performance, which Wood just won by defeating Mackey in the same category.
In addition to Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Chaneil Kular, Mimi Keene, Simone Ashley, and Mikael Persbrandt, the film stars Patricia Allison, Sami Outalball, Anne-Marie Duff, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Tanya Reynolds, and Alistair Petrie. Season one of Sex Education debuted in January 2019, with season two following in January 2020. There's no sign of slowing down for the highly anticipated series.
Sex Education plot revolves around Otis dealing with his sexual hang-ups launches his own consulting company with tough girl Maeve (Emma Mackey) to help his bewildered and sexually curious schoolmates. But along the way, Otis began to grow intimate feelings towards Maeve creating more thrill and drama in the series.
As the series enters its fourth season, we're all excited to see what's in store for us as viewers. There will undoubtedly be body and sex-positivity, queer-loving, and an even more intense roller coaster ride for each characters in the upcoming series.
