'GALECA: The Dorian Award' Releases Full List of Nominees For The Best In Movies

Check out the list of nominated movies below.

GALECA: The Dorian Award nominees for the best in movies have been announced by the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics. This year's nominations are dominated by Netflix and Neon.

The Power of the Dog, directed by Jane Campion, has nine nominations, including best film, LGBTQ film, director, and three acting nominations. The 1920s-set race drama Passing, the odd animated refugee documentary Flee, and Steven Spielberg's vivid reworking of West Side Story all received five nominations.

GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics' Dorian Awards, established in 2009, honor the best in film and television, from mainstream to queer+, at various periods throughout the year. GALECA is made up of critics, journalists, and broadcasters who work for some of the most well-known and influential news organizations in the US, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The Society, a nonprofit professional organization, aims to remind bigots, bullies, and our own at-risk youngsters that the world values the Q eye on excellent and distinctive entertainment through its televised Toast awards specials, panels, and 10 Best lists.

“You could say the movies and performances chosen by our Society’s members are a reflection of what appeals to the entire trendsetting Queer and Trans community,” said GALECA President Monika Estrella Negra. “As our representation grows in the industry and beyond, expect the Dorian Awards to continue to shine light on the importance, and excitement, of having diverse critical eyes on cinema."

Entertainment enthusiasts who support the Society's goals and want to stay up to date on its activities should subscribe to GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics on YouTube, where they can watch the Dorians specials and more.
