State of Terror, the best-selling novel by former Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and New York Times best-selling novelist Louise Penny, has been acquired and will be developed by Madison Wells, Gigi Pritzker's award-winning independent entertainment firm. This high-stakes international drama follows new Secretary of State Ellen Adams, who is abruptly appointed to the cabinet by a newly-elected President who is her political and personal foe. Soon after, events unfold that drag her into a realm of global intrigue and diplomacy, where the stakes could not be higher and the personal and global implications could not be greater.

HiddenLight Productions (established by Hillary Clinton, Sam Branson, and Chelsea Clinton) will produce the film, with Clinton and Penny serving as Executive Producers and advisers. Madison Wells will be produced by Pritzker and Head of Film and TV Rachel Shane.

Madison Wells debuted a new style and identity at the end of last year to better reflect the company's dedication to championing the voices of both established and emerging storytellers in the conviction that excellent storytelling inspires vital dialogues. Madison Wells has acquired a number of major rights, including Emily Nagoski's fundamental work on female sexuality, Come As You Are, which is being produced for film, television, and podcasts. Madison Wells is also working on a television adaptation of Emma Straub's All Adults Here, with Sarah Hayward serving as Executive Producer.
