Basketball Star and Producer Jarnell Stokes Signs With 'Innovative'

Stokes is currently working on two drama series!

Jarnell Stokes, a professional basketball player and producer, has signed with Innovative Artists' Babette Perry, who will represent him in both on-camera and production projects.

Stokes is now working on two drama series set in his birthplace of Memphis, addressing the cutthroat convergence of athletics, music, and street culture.

Break the Cycle is the first book in a series that explores the difficulties of twin 16-year-old orphan brothers as they seek a piece of the American dream. Stokes is co-creating the series with Taylor Materne (Hustle) as a writer-producer, and Chris Pavoni (Supergirl) is producing alongside Walk Like A Duck Entertainment. The second series, Rocky Top College, is a collegiate sports drama about a school with the same name that has a sinister secret. They put the school's newest recruit on a regimen to dominate on the court when he joins the squad, full of potential and hope for a better life. However, as anxiety and hallucinations increase, the growing celebrity must decide if his job is worth risking his sanity and even his life for.

Stokes is collaborating on the project with Vassal Benford of The Benford Company, a music entrepreneur. Shannan E. Johnson (Monogamy) will serve as a co-writer, while actor Geoffrey Blake (Forest Gump) will produce.

Stokes' Stoked Film Group is also exec producing projects such as the horror comedy Slayers, starring Abigail Breslin, Thomas Jane, and Malin Akerman; the thriller Dig, starring Thomas Jane, Emile Hirsch, and Liana Liberato; and the murder mystery Helen's Dead, starring Annabelle Dexter-Jones and Tyres Gibson, among others.

Stokes was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Sioux Falls Skyforce, and Denver Nuggets in the NBA. He is presently a member of the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, and is still represented by Tammy Hunt of CSP Management.
