Drive My Car, a Japanese road drama, has been acquired by WarnerMedia OneFifty and will air on HBO Max on March 2, 2022.
The film is directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Takamasa Oe, which is based on Haruki Murakami's short tale of the same name. It depicts the story of Ysuke Kafukuwho (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a well-known stage actor and director, who falls in love with a reserved young woman who has been assigned to drive him around in his beloved red Saab 900.
Tko Miura, Masaki Okada, Reika Kirishima, Park Yoo-rim, Satoko Abe, Jin Dae-yeon, and Sonia Yuan are among the cast members of the Sideshow/Janus Films project.
In four categories, including Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film, and Adapted Screenplay, Drive My Car has just received Academy Award nominations. It's the first time a Japanese film has been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
The picture has gotten a lot of attention at the box office as a result of all the Oscar buzz. When the film is released on HBO Max, it will be much more accessible.
