Following a complaint from co-star Diane Davis about Snyder's behavior, producers have fired James Snyder, who has played the title character in Broadway's recently retooled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child since the show returned from the pandemic shutdown.

The nature of the misbehavior has not been stated. However, following Davis' original complaint on Nov. 19, 2021, producers Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender, and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions suggest that the production commissioned an independent investigation by a third party. Snyder was suspended at the time pending the outcome of the investigation.

Snyder will not return to the production after the investigation is completed, according to the producers, and his contract has been terminated.

Davis, who plays Ginny Potter, Harry's wife, "has taken the personal decision to take a leave of absence," according to the producers. "We will make no more remark on the topic out of respect for her privacy — and to safeguard the integrity of the investigation."

The following statement was also released by the producers:

“We are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace, which is why we have robust workplace policies and procedures in place for all those involved in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This includes strict prohibitions against harassment in any form, as well as channels through which any employee can report conduct that they believe is inappropriate. We will continue to do all we can to ensure the extremely talented team that brings this production to life feels safe, empowered, and fully supported.”

Snyder has previously starred on Broadway in Cry-Baby, If/Then, and In Transit, as well as on television in The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, and Cold Case, as well as in the 2017 film The Storyteller.

Davis has appeared on stage in Golden Boy and on television in Dr. Death, Person of Interest, and Fringe.
