Graham Norton, the popular late-night talk show host, is getting ready to host a new drag competition.
The Irish presenter, who is a regular on RuPaul's Drag Race UK, is reuniting with the show's production company World of Wonder for Queen of the Universe, an international singing competition that promises "high heels, high octaves [and] high competition" that will blow its audiences' wigs off. The show is described as a Eurovision-style competition in which countries will compete by sending their best drag queens to compete and put their real singing voices to the test.
According to Variety, the show was inspired by Conchita Wurst's Eurovision victory in 2014, when her song 'Rise Like a Phoenix' wowed several participating countries. According to the same source, Norton's involvement in the series has been in the works for quite some time, though he only recently signed on to the project officially.
Queen of the Universe, which was first confirmed during ViacomCBS's investor day presentation in February, is set to premiere on the company's streaming service Paramount Plus on Thursday, December 2. When he appears on Drag Race UK, Norton is on the same panel as Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, and, of course, RuPaul.
On the first episode of series three, Norton, Visage, RuPaul, and Little Britain's Matt Lucas were tasked with giving their thoughts on the competing queens' runway looks.
