Republic Records Appoints Wendy Goldstein and Jim Roppo As Co-Presidents

The Universal Music Group-owned music label announced two new co-presidents of the label

The two long-serving executed was recently promoted to their posts as co-presidents by the label's co-founders Monte and Avery Lipman.

Monte Lipman released in a statement, "Wendy Goldstein and Jim Roppo together are the ultimate dynamic duo. Their leadership spearheading groundbreaking releases and historic campaigns has captured the imagination of our industry while making a tremendous impact on popular culture. I’m thrilled to make this announcement as we embark on the next chapter of Republic Records." His younger brother Avery Liipman added, "We can always rely on Roppo and Wendy to not only exceed expectations, but shatter them entirely. They’ve been integral to our success up to this point and will be even more crucial to the evolution of our company."

Wendy Goldstein is a longtime AR executive. Her past employers included RCA, Geffen and Priority/Capitol, and Epic before she moved to Republic Records as an AR consultant in 2009. She was appointed as Executive Vice President AR until early 2017. She was then promoted to Executive Vice President of the entire music label. In June 2019, she was promoted again as President of West Coast Creative. She said in a statement, "I’ve been very lucky to work with Monte, Avery and Republic for over two decades now. They’ve showed me the utmost support and confidence at every turn and continue to inspire me. I’m looking forward to this amazing new opportunity alongside my good friend Roppo as we usher in Republic’s next era."

Jim Roppo was heading the music label's marketing division for almost a decade now after moving to Republic Records in 2012 when his 13-year term at Island Def Jam ended. It was in January 2018 that he was promoted to Executive Vice President/General Manager of Republic and handled the oversight of all label operations for Republic and its partners. After his latest promotion, he shared, "There’s no other company like Republic. Monte and Avery empower everyone around them to excel at an unparalleled level. The last 10 years have been unforgettable, and I’m thankful for their continued trust and belief as I join my incredible co-president, the one and only Wendy Goldstein, in this new role.”

Republic Records recently earned numerous Grammy nominations, including two in the Big Four categories: Glass Animals for Best New Artist and Taylor Swift's evermore for Album of the Year. In 2021 alone, the label garnered a staggering 8.36% market share and currently has the No.1 album on the Billboard Hot 200 and the No. song on the Hot 100 thanks to Taylor Swift's re-recording of her 2012 album Red.
