The inheritors of the fashion empire that we all know simply as "Gucci" criticized the film adaptation of their family, which the film portrayed as "hooligans" and "ignorant".

The heirs of former Gucci chairman Aldo Gucci released in a statement published by ANSA, the Italian wire service, on its website last Monday, "The Gucci family reserves the right to take every initiative (necessary) to protect their name and image and those of their loved ones."

Generally quoted in Italian media, the Gucci family argues that Ridley Scott and the producers of House of Gucci "did not even bother to consult the heirs" of the fashion empire before representings their family members as "thugs, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them."

Boasting a star-studded ensemble led by Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino, film showed the tumultuous years that led to the murder of Maurizio Gucci, the head of the legendary Milan fashion house. Lady Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani, an Italian socialite who was later convicted for employing the services of a hitman to assassinate her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci and subsequently spent 18 years in prison.

Peeved at how the movie portrayed Reggiani "as a victim", the Gucci family was convinced that the same sentiments were shared by castmembers during the promotion of the movie.

This is not the first time the Gucci family shared their dislike for the House of Gucci. Months ago, Patricia Gucci, the daughter of Aldo Gucci (who was played by Al Pacino the movie), lambasted Ridley Scott for "stealing the identity of a family to make a profit to increase the income of the Hollywood system."
