Kanye West Remembers Longtime Friend Virgil Abloh at Sunday Service

Virgil Abloh was one of Kanye West’s closest colleagues and friends.

Kanye West (now known as "Ye") paid tribute to his longtime friend and collaborator Virgil Abloh, a multidisciplinary architect, entrepreneur, and fashion designer, just hours after reports on his death surfaced on Sunday.

A tribute to Abloh was held at Sunday Service livestreamed at dondalive.com, wherein a memorial was shown on the screen along with the words: "In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, the creative director of Donda."

In addition to the memorial, Ye’s choir reworked and made a rendition of Adele’s “Easy on Me” which is the lead single from her fourth studio album 30. The first verse was slightly modified to pay tribute to Virgil, with the choir singing: “I know your love flows like a river / And I could wash myself in it forever / I know there is hope in these waters / But I can’t bring myself to swim / When I am drowning in my sin.”

Virgil Abloh worked as Kanye West’s creative director before becoming Louis Vuitton’s first African American artistic director in 2018.
