Despite dance partner Cheryl Burke having to drop out of this week's show after testing positive for breakthrough COVID-19, Peloton teacher Cody Rigsby claims he will still compete on Dancing with the Stars. On Monday, the couple was supposed to return to the ballroom for their second dance.
Rigsby recently updated his Instagram Stories with an explanation of what happened. He also sent well-wishes Burke's way.
"First and foremost I want to send all my love, and thoughts and healing energy to Miss Cheryl Burke. We've spoken a few times. She seems to be in good spirits and feeling well, but I've been through COVID and I know how crazy this virus can be and it can change at any moment. So just keep her in your thoughts. The competition of Dancing with the Stars must go on. I will be competing. How is to be determined, so stay tuned."
Meanwhile, Rigsby urged his followers to vote so that he may remain in the race for another week.
Burke stated she was "completely vaccinated" with Moderna and disclosed her positive coronavirus findings on Instagram on Sunday night.
Burke and Rigsby debuted on the season 30 premiere of DWTS last week, dancing the tango to Dua Lipa's "Physical." Judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Derek Hough gave the pair a 24 out of 40.
