The lowest-rated evening of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, leading up to Wednesday primetime, was the first night of competition before the Opening Ceremony. However, NBC's Olympic coverage hit new lows on Wednesday.

According to preliminary ratings, Wednesday's episode received a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 market and 6.16 million viewers. Women's halfpipe qualifying, men's aerials skiing finals, and more were featured in the most recent primetime broadcast. Wednesday's audience was down from Tuesday's (1.4, 8.06 million), last week's (1.8, 9.65 million), and the first night of coverage (1.2, 7.39 million).

Based on prior evenings' performances, the final Wednesday of the 2022 Olympics is also projected to be much lower than the comparable night of the 2018 PyeongChang games. NBC's Total Audience Delivery for the same point in the 2018 Olympics was 16.4 million viewers. When NBCUniversal's second Wednesday numbers become available, this post will be updated.

Aside from the Olympics, only ABC, Fox, and CBS broadcasted new episodes of their primetime lineups. The latest variations of Jeopardy! air at 8 p.m. The National College Championship (0.5, 4.46M) and Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (0.5, 3.00M) matched for the night's second-highest ratings, with the former attracting the most non-sports viewers. I Can See Your Voice (0.3, 2.02M) maintained its demo rating while increasing its viewership.

Later same night, The Amazing Race (0.4, 3.06 million viewers) declined from the previous week to match Next Level Chef (0.4, 1.80 million viewers), which grew in popularity. Two episodes of The Chase (0.3, 3.00M/0.3, 2.48M) rounded out ABC's night.

The women's 1000m speed skating, women's free skate in figure skating, and women's halfpipe skiing finals will be broadcast on the final Thursday of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
