Today (Feb. 16), the Snow Moon will reach its peak and join a group of planets that will brighten up the morning sky.

At 11:57 a.m., the Snow Moon, a full moon, will be at its brightest. Both the night before and the night after, it will look to be nearly full. If you look closely at the full moon tonight, you'll notice the bright star Regulus in the lion constellation Leo, which is dominated by the moon.

Also, don't forget to gaze up at the sky in the early morning hours as a few planets will be visible.

Today, the moon will be accompanied by a few planets in the early morning sky.

Venus rises around 4:20 a.m. for people in the eastern United States. Today, at 0920 GMT in New York City, the sun will rise at a distance of 22 degrees above the horizon. At 4:48 a.m., Mars rises a little later. You should be able to see Mercury retreating as it is at its greatest distance, or elongation, west of the sun around 0948 EDT (0948 GMT). Jupiter, another planet, will also be visible for a brief period of time before sunset tonight.
