Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson Confirmed Hosts of NBC Reality Series ‘American Song Contest’

The 'American Song Contest' is NBC's new musical competition series.

The hosts of NBC's new musical competition series, American Song Contest, are Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson. NBC's Super Bowl halftime show, which included Snoop Dogg as one of the headliners, made the revelation in a trailer that ran right before the halftime performance.

The Eurovision Song Contest, which has been organized by the European Broadcasting Union for 65 years and is watched by 200 million people every year, is the basis for the American Song Contest. The NBC series will air from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 21. From the NBCUniversal lot, it's ET/PT. With the Grand Final slated for May 9, just ahead of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, which will consist of two semifinals on May 10 and 12, followed by the final on May 14, the series will continue on Monday nights for eight weeks. As part of a two-year arrangement, the Eurovision semifinals and final will be available on NBC's sister streaming platform Peacock in the United States.

Live new music performances from all 50 states, five US territories, and the capital of the United States will be part of the American Song Contest. They'll be vying for the title of best hit song in the country. Over the course of three rounds, each venue will be represented by a solo artist, duet, or band who will perform an original song.

On a later date, the 56 artists will be announced.

“I am honored to host ‘American Song Contest’ alongside my lil sis Kelly Clarkson, aka Miss Texas ,” Snoop Dogg said.

Added Clarkson, “I have been a fan and love the concept of Eurovision and am thrilled to bring the musical phenomenon to America. I’m so excited to work with Snoop and can’t wait to see every state and territory represented by artists singing their own songs.”

On Season 20 of NBC's The Voice, Clarkson and Snoop Dog worked together as a team, with Clarkson as a regular coach and Snoop as a major mentor.

Audrey Morrissey, Anders Lenhoff, Christer Björkman, Peter Settman, Ola Melzig, Gregory Lipstone, Amanda Zucker, and Kyra Thompson, as well as Propagate's Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, are producing the American Song Contest. Executive producers include Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. Propagate and Universal Television Alternative Studio, a part of Universal Studio Group, collaborated on the series.
