At the 24th annual CDGA next month, Andrew Garfield will win the Costume Designers Guild's Spotlight Award for 2022, while Spider-Man producers Amy Pascal and Rachel O'Connor will receive the Distinguished Collaborator Award.
Sharen Davis (Ray, Dreamgirls), an Emmy winner and two-time Oscar nominee, will receive the Career Achievement Award at the in-person Costume Designers Guild Awards on March 9 at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, according to the guild.
“Andrew Garfield’s history with costume design has transcended genre,” said Salvador Perez, President of the Costume Designers Guild. “A tech giant, a decorated soldier, a superhero and now, with his performances in The Eyes of Tammy Faye and tick, tick…BOOM!, he has proven that he can do, and wear, just about anything.”
He added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Amy Pascal and Rachel O’Connor to our roster of amazing distinguished collaborator recipients. Their respect of the art of costume design speaks for itself. And what can we say about Sharen Davis that she hasn’t already told us through her work? Her designs have included some of the most iconic costumes to grace our screens.”
With O'Connor working as exec producer on the former and co-producer on the latter, Pascal is a two-time Best Picture Oscar contender for Little Women and The Post. They also collaborated on the Spider-Man series for Sony.
In 2020, Davis won an Emmy for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes for Watchmen after being nominated for Westworld two years prior. For Dreamgirls in 2007 and Ray in 2005, she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Achievement in Costume Design.
The Spotlight Award is given to an actor whose talent and career exemplify a long-term dedication to quality, with a particular focus on the role and importance of costume design in the production. Individuals who display consistent support for costume design and creative collaborations with costume designers are honored with the Distinguished Collaborator Award.
