Fox Sports Launches Podcast Network

Initial slate features shows hosted by Skip Bayless and Nick Wright.

Fox Sports has started a podcast network to capitalize on its expertise in the audio sector, with an initial slate of programmes hosted by Skip Bayless and Nick Wright.

At launch, a documentary on the death of former Major League Baseball player Lyman Bostock, directed by All Madden co-director and Fox Sports reporter Tom Rinaldi.

“Fox Sports is the leading destination for top quality original digital content from the biggest personalities in sports,” said Charlie Dixon, EVP and head of content for Fox Sports. “The creation of this new podcast network allows us to deliver fans exclusive commentary and enthralling stories providing hours of entertainment through this important medium.”

By 2023, podcasting will have grown from a niche pastime a decade or more ago to a $2 billion annual revenue enterprise. The sports category is busy, and it's growing crowded faster, with established media firms like ESPN competing against a slew of newer competitors like Spotify's The Ringer, Meadowlark Media, and Barstool Sports. Although Fox has a number of top-rated radio personalities, such as Dan Patrick and Colin Cowherd, their participation in podcasting is controlled by third parties. The establishment of the podcast network aims to change that in the long run.

Club Shay Shay, an existing Fox podcast presented by Shannon Sharpe that has done well on the Apple Podcasts list, will join The Skip Bayless Show, What's Wright with Nick Wright, and Wesley, the Bostock series.

Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, a staple daytime conversation show on Fox's FS1 cable network, is co-hosted by Bayless and Sharpe.

The host of the weekly Skip Bayless Show podcast will discuss current events and reveal behind-the-scenes moments, as well as interviews and responses to viewer and listener inquiries.
