Autopsies Rule Out Drug Use and Foul Play in Bob Saget Death

The actor-comedian's cause of death is yet to be investigated.

The Florida chief medical examiner in charge of investigating the death of comedian Bob Saget said today that an autopsy performed this morning indicates no evidence of drug use or foul play.

In a statement, Joshua Stephany, the chief medical examiner of Orange and Osceola Counties, announced, “An autopsy was performed this morning on Robert Lane Saget. Mr. Saget is a 65-year-old male, who was found unresponsive in his hotel room."

“At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play,” the statement says.  “The cause and manner of death are pending further studies and investigation which may take up to 10-12 weeks to complete. Our condolences go out to Mr. Saget’s loved ones during this difficult time.”

The media will be alerted after the final report is done, according to the examiner.

Saget was discovered dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando on Sunday, shocking and saddening his friends and fans around the world. On Saturday night, the star of Full House and America's Funniest Home Videos did his stand-up comedy performance in a venue near Jacksonville, Florida.

Saget was discovered unresponsive in his hotel room Sunday afternoon, according to an Orange County [Florida] Sheriff's Office investigation, with no signs of foul play or trauma. The room was clean and tidy, according to the report, with "things belonging to Mr. Saget on the nightstand, television stand, closet, and bathroom."

When family members couldn't reach Saget, they alerted hotel security, according to the report. A security officer entered the room, discovered the actor laying on the bed, and told hotel personnel to contact 911 after checking for a pulse and finding none. Saget was pronounced deceased by paramedics and deputies who arrived on the scene.
