Jason Monteiro Joins HBO Max Southeast Asia as General Manager

He will be in-charge of the anticipated launch of HBO Max.

Jason Monteiro has been appointed to General Manager of HBO Max Southeast Asian, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

“Jason arrives at HBO Max with a proven track record of building and growing subscription services across Asia and other important global markets,” said Johannes Larcher, Head of HBO Max International, said. “He’s a passionate leader known for building and inspiring high-performing teams, and I’m eager to see his leadership in action as he steps into his new role today.”

Monteiro formerly worked at Shahid, a renowned Arabic content streaming platform, as the Director of AVOD. Monteiro oversaw the free tier of Shahid's streaming platform, as well as user development and engagement. Monteiro previously worked for iflix as the company's Chief Marketing Officer as well as the general manager of Indonesia and Malaysia.

Monteiro will be in charge of WarnerMedia's Direct-to-Consumer business's day-to-day operations, including content experience, brand, marketing, subscriber management, and digital partnerships. Monteiro will also be in charge of the region's existing HBO Go streaming service as well as the anticipated launch of HBO Max.

Due to WarnerMedia's focus to the growth of HBO Go, the company's existing worldwide streaming service, HBO Max is yet to arrive in Asia. Warner Bros. has been added to the service as part of recent updates. Pictures; HBO original shows include 'Succession,' 'The Vampire Diaries,' and the Max Originals 'Gossip Girl' and 'And Just Like That,' among others.
