Twitter Permanently Suspend Marjorie Greene's Account Following COVID19 Vaccine Remark

Her personal account is now banned permanently.

Twitter announced on Sunday that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) personal account has been permanently suspended for numerous violations of the Covid-19 misinformation policy.

According to Twitter spokesman, “We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy."

After tweeting about Covid-19 vaccinations, @mtgreenee's account was permanently banned.

@RepMTG, the account she uses for her congressional office, is still operational.

Twitter announced earlier this year that it would implement a "strike" system to enforce its Covid-19 misinformation policy. The first strike was merely a warning, but the second, third, and fourth strikes were all followed with account locks. Users' accounts can be permanently suspended if they receive five or more strikes.

According to NBC News, Greene's office said in a statement through her office, ”Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth. That’s fine, I’ll show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies.”

Greene's account was restricted for a week in August after she tweeted that the vaccines are "failing," and she was told that the breach of the Covid-19 policy was a fourth "strike" at the time. Greene has also been penalized several times for wearing a mask on the House floor.
