Hwang Dong Hyuk, the director of "Squid Game," and Netflix have both revealed their plans for future seasons of the hit show.
"I'm now in the thick of conversations with Netflix about Season 2 and Season 3 [of 'Squid Game,']," Hwang Dong Hyuk said in an interview with KBS on December 28.
"I believe we'll be able to achieve some sort of conclusion [to our negotiations] shortly," the director concluded. "We know there are a lot of people waiting, so we're all working hard to get ready for the upcoming season with a good attitude."
Hwang Dong Hyuk also indicated what Season 2's main plotline will be. "The story of [Lee Jung Jae's character] Seong Gi Hun discovering [the mysteries of the organization behind the game] will be the emphasis [of the season]," he revealed. "The story of the individuals Gi Hun encounters and the ones he chases will be the major thread of Season 2."
"It's true that we are discussing a broad variety of ideas for 'Squid Game,' including the development of a Season 3, but nothing has yet been set in stone," Netflix clarified later that day.
