Drakeo The Ruler Passes Away After Stabbing Incident in L.A. Festival

Condolences to Drake The Ruler's bereaved family.

Drakeo The Ruler (actual name Darell Caldwell) was stabbed in the neck on Saturday night at Exposition Park during the Once Upon A Time In L.A. Festival on December 18. The West Coast rapper was initially in serious condition at a nearby hospital, but he has since died from his injuries, according to TMZ.

According to the Los Angeles Times, paramedics responded to a stabbing incident around 8:40 p.m., according to Margaret Stewart, a public information officer for the Los Angeles Fire Department. One individual was brought to a hospital in critical condition at local time.

Drakeo The Ruler was "attacked by a group of people at the music festival and gravely injured," according to a person with firsthand knowledge of the situation.

The organizers of the festival swiftly shut the event down after the fight erupted backstage. As premature rumors of Drakeo The Ruler’s death circulated on Twitter, the festival issued a statement via Instagram, saying, “The Once Upon A Time In LA Fest is ending early. All performances are now over. Please head to the closest exit and head eastbound on MLK.”

Drakeo The Ruler was set to play alongside Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, The Game, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, among others. At 8:30 p.m., Snoop Dogg was scheduled to perform on the main stage. However, the event ended by 9:20 p.m. when cops rushed the backstage area.

Drakeo The Ruler died while he was only 28 years old. He died a little more than a year after being released from prison.
