The Weeknd Takes the Top Spot on Vevo’s “Most Watched Videos of 2021”

Congratulations to all the artists who made it into the list!

The Weeknd and Lil Baby, who were already named the King of Vevo for 2021 last week, topped the platform's "10 Most Watched Videos of 2021" list.

The Weeknd's "Save Your Tears" music video led both domestically and internationally, with 615 million global views and 102.9 million domestic views. Lil Baby came in second in the United States, with 94 million views on his video for "On Me." Lil Nas X's "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" video landed in second place with 91.30 million views, followed by Polo G's "RAPSTAR" video in fourth place with 86.9 million.

In 2021, Lil Baby and The Weeknd dominated Vevo. Both stars have previously been named the platform's top-ranking artists of the year in the United States, with Baby receiving over 770 million views and The Weeknd receiving 558 million.

Doja Cat and Lil Nas X both charted for the first time on Vevo's year-end list, with 429 and 382 million views, respectively. For his music videos "MONTERO" and "INDUSTRY BABY," the latter also had the highest engagement in 2021, with both receiving the most likes, shares, and comments across the Vevo network.

In 2021, Karol G and The Weeknd topped Vevo's global market. The Colombian superstar had 3.11 billion views, with the Canadian pop diva coming in second with 3.10 billion.

The Weeknd has been busy preparing for the release of his new album, The Dawn, which he has hinted will be released soon.

“Picture the album being like the listener is dead,” he told Billboard of the project. “And they’re stuck in this purgatory state, which I always imagined would be like being stuck in traffic waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel.”
