Pele, the great Brazilian soccer, is recently getting chemotherapy in a hospital in Brazil, according to a TMZ report, just months after being diagnosed with colon cancer.
According to Pele's assistant and the hospital, the 81-year-old is currently undergoing treatment at Sao Paolo Hospital Albert Einstein to address a cancer that has been discovered during a routine exam in September. Following the diagnosis, FIFA's "Player Of The Century" had a tumor removed, which makes the chemotherapy necessary.
Pele should be released in the next few days, according to the report.
During his last stay at the hospital, Pele posted on Instagram, “When the path is difficult, celebrate each step of the journey.”
“Focus on your happiness. It’s true that I can’t jump anymore, but these past few days, I’ve been punching the air more times than usual.”
Pele, widely regarded as the greatest "football" player of all time, is the only man to have won three World Cup titles, including leading Brazil to their first international victory in 1958. In 1993, he was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
