Tom Holland Will Portray “Fred Astaire” In Upcoming Sony Film

This will surely become a legendary film!

The actor told the Associated Press while promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home in London that he'll play the renowned actor-singer-dancer, Fred Astaire” in a Sony picture.

Holland stated, "The script came in a week ago. I haven't read it yet because it hasn't been provided to me."

The announcement comes just weeks after Spider-Man producer and former Sony CEO Amy Pascal told GQ that she was interested in casting Holland for the role.

"Earlier, she FaceTimed me. I was in the bath," Holland said about Pascal to the Associated Press. "And we had a great FaceTime, but I'm going to be Fred Astaire."

It's unclear who's penning the script, but Pascal has stated that Holland is her top choice for the part.

She told GQ last month, "There are very few actors working now that are as flexible as he is. And he's the hardest worker I've ever met."

Holland previously showed his dancing abilities on Lip Sync Battle in 2017, where he performed a mashup of "Singin' in the Rain" and Rihanna's "Umbrella" alongside his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya.

Another Astaire film is in the works, with Bell as the legend and Margaret Qualley as Ginger Rogers, from Amazon Studios and Automatik.
