New York Critics Circle Named Lady Gaga as Best Actress For Her Role In "House Of Gucci"

Lady Gaga's role as Patrizia Reggiani was a hit to the critics

Lady Gaga is once again proving to the world that she can juggle both the music industry and the film industry.

On Friday, Lady Gaga has been named by the New York Critics Circle for her role as Patrizia Reggiani in the Ridley Scott directed movie House of Gucci. Lady Gaga's portrayal comes three (3) years after her role as Ally in the box office hit A Star Is Born which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

Patrizia Reggiani, the Italian socialite, was convicted in real life for plotting the assassination of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci, the former head of the Gucci fashion house.

Lady Gaga, born as Stefan Germanotta, had her very first starring role in the 2018 remake A Star Is Born. Her first acting role was as a guest star in The Sopranos in 2001. She also had an uncredited role in the ninth episode of Season 3 of the same show, entitled "The Telltale Moozadell". She was "Girl at Swimming Pool #2". Her scene in the TV show included a small appearance at a high school swimming pool where she watched a group of guys swim. Lady Gaga didn't have any lines apart from a few laughs but she revealed later in an interview what she did wrong. "When I look back on that scene I can see exactly what I did wrong in that scene. I didn’t know how to listen in a scene! I was supposed to laugh, and it was sort of like, cue, laugh…. I see it and I go, 'Oh, that’s not a real laugh!'" Still, up to this day and however small her role there was, she credits that experience to how she handled her acting gigs in the future. She revealed in the interview, "The nuance and being specific as an actor is something that can grow over time if you’re willing to listen and really hear the other actor that you’re working with,' she revealed. I see a very non-specific actor on the show and now I see myself as someone who is at least really striving to be specific without thinking about it, and that requires a lot of work ahead of time." She went on to thank Susan Batson, her acting teacher. Batson worked with Lady Gaga for several months as preparation for her role in House of Gucci.
