On November 30, Barbados’ 55th independence day, Rihanna was honored as a national hero which is the country’s highest accolade. Barbados is Rihanna’s home country, where she was born in the Barbadian parish of Saint Michael.

This gives Rihanna a new moniker aside from being a multi-platinum recording artist, beauty mogul, actor, fashion designer, entrepreneur, and newly-minted billionaire: the Right Excellent Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

During her award speech, Rihanna said, "Nothing compares to being acknowledged in the soil where you grew up." She added, "Barbadians are a proud people." "We're perhaps the most prideful individuals I've ever met." I take that pride with me wherever I go in the globe."

Rihanna expressed her admiration for Barbados' youth and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for the honor.

Rihanna continued, "I'm really happy to be a Bajan." "Until the day I die, I'm going to be a Bajan." This is still the only home I've ever known."

Prime Minister Mottley commended Rihanna for her discipline and "exceptional commitment to the land of her origin" in announcing the prize.

"May you continue to shine brightly like a diamond, bringing glory to our country via your works and acts," Mottley said to Rihanna.

Rihanna received the prize at a presidential inauguration event in Bridgetown, the country's capital after Queen Elizabeth II was deposed as the country's head of state.
