Nicolas Cage Makes A Comeback as Dracula in Major Studio Horror Film “Renfield”

A new Nicolas Cage film is finally coming our way!

Nicolas Cage is returning to a major studio film to play Dracula in Universal Pictures' horror film Renfield.

In this flick directed by Chris McKay, the director of Amazon's The Tomorrow War and The Lego Batman Movie, Nicholas Holt plays the titular role which is the vampire count's famed follower and henchman.

Renfield first appeared in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula as a patient in a mental institution with an appetite for consuming blood and the delusion that by doing so, he can achieve immortality. He bows at the feet of Dracula, who feeds him insects and rodents and dangles endless life in front of him in the very definition of toxic work settings and co-dependent relationships.

Because storyline details are being kept under wraps, it's unknown how Renfield handles the situation, although the project is touted as a hilarious modern-day adventure story.

The script was written by Ryan Ridley, who previously worked on Fox's Ghosted and Adult Swim's Rick and Morty. It was based on an original narrative outline by Robert Kirkman.

Cage rose to prominence as an actor with films like Moonstruck and Raising Arizona in the 1980s, before receiving an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas in 1995 and becoming one of the most well-known actors in the world.

WME, Stride Management, and attorney Patrick Knapp represent the actor, who dabbled in bloodsucking in the 1989 cult horror-comedy Vampire's Kiss.
