Joe McCarthy Biopic is coming soon

Joe McCarthy Biopic Will Have Michael Shannon, Emilia Clarke, and Dane DeHaan as Lead Actors.

In the film suitably titled "McCarthy," Michael Shannon will portray U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy, a corrupt politician who created his own -ism.

"Nocturnal Animals" and "Revolutionary Road" actress, a two-time Oscar nominee, will delve inside the demagogue's mind to see how he rode the wave of anti-communist fervor by using show trials and red-baiting to gain power. Director Václav Marhoul and actors Emilia Clarke from "Game of Thrones" and Dane DeHaan from "The Place Beyond the Pines" will assist him in this endeavor. As a last piece, the cast is completed by Scoot McNairy from "C'mon C'mon" and "Argo".

Mccarthy follows the rise and fall of a legendary and powerful senator, as well as the people who helped him get there, including his politically ambitious wife Jean Kerr (Clarke), his vicious young lawyer Roy Cohn (DeHaan), and his longtime confidant and colleague Ray Kiermas (McNairy). May they be remembered for a long time. For his work on "The Painted Bird," Marhoul received critical acclaim and was nominated for the 2019 Golden Lion Award. The black-and-white drama about a little child living through World War II was praised for its brilliance but is also the textbook definition of a "difficult sit."

To manage foreign sales and distribution, HanWay Films has been brought on board. Sales will begin at the American Film Market. The deal will be overseen by CAA Media Finance in the United States. The original screenplay was written by Tom O'Connor (of "The Hitman's Bodyguard" fame). Zach Studin and O'Connor collaborated on the film's production as well. Executive producing will be "Star Wars" producer Rick McCallum. It is expected to begin manufacturing in Prague and the United States in the fall of 2022.
