Victoria Velasquez Vincent, Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2021 Charity, stated that she was approached after the MUPH coronation night to become Miss Universe New Zealand 2021, but she rejected.

Victoria stated on her Instagram account that she refused the offer since her heart would always be with the Philippines.

"I was given the position of Miss Universe New Zealand 2021 shortly after the MUPH coronation night." "After a week of deliberation and several talks with my family, friends, and team, I ultimately decided to gracefully refuse the offer," Victoria stated.

"I know a lot of people will think I'm crazy for passing up this chance, but I had to do what I knew in my heart was the correct thing to do." My heart is and will always be in the Philippines. Some may feel I'm not enough Filipina, and that's fine. I am aware of who I am. I'm clear about what I stand for. "I am a Filipina," she clarified.

She did, however, express gratitude to the Miss Universe New Zealand organization for their belief in her. She also expressed gratitude to the Miss Universe Philippines organization for their assistance.

"I'd want to express my gratitude to the MUNZ org for your generosity. I am eternally thankful that you believed in me and gave me this once-in-a-lifetime chance. "Thank you to the MUPH organization for providing your support regardless of what I choose to do," she added.

"I can't wait to see what the future holds for us, Philippines," she said.
