The Story Behind Miss World PH's Winning Evening Gown

It is a combination of her preferences as a woman and as a Christian.

On Sunday, October 3, 2021, the Miss World Philippines 2021 crowning will take place at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center. Miss Eco Philippines Kathleen Paton, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas Emmanuelle Vera, Miss Tourism Philippines Trisha Martinez, Miss Environment Philippines Michelle Arceo, Miss Multinational Philippines Shaila Rebortera, Miss Eco Teen Philippines Tatyana Austria, and, of course, Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez are the new queens of the prestigious pageant, which has been postponed numerous times.

With the pageant running over seven hours, it was becoming more difficult for the contestants to maintain their calm during the event, and some, including the recently crowned Miss World Philippines, made minor gaffes on stage. She actually tripped not once, but twice.

The industrial engineer from Cebu, on the other hand, stood high and erect every time she went down, exactly like a genuine queen. Her beautiful outfit, designed by Filipino designer Pablo Mendez III, added to the moment's beauty. According to him, the evening gown was inspired by a magenta rosary.

"She requested a magenta hue for her evening gown from the beginning, the same color as the rosary," he told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. "From the outset, she understood exactly what she wanted. She desired a beaded, well-detailed [dress] that would enhance her form and proportions while also highlighting her individuality."

The design of the dress, from the form to the details to the texture, began in December of last year, just after Miss Universe Philippines 2020 was crowned. Tracy was one of the top 16 choices in Miss Universe Philippines' first competition, where she represented Cebu City.

"So much deserved!" says the designer when asked what makes Tracy the ideal Filipino representative for Miss World 2021. [She's] focused, determined, humble, grounded, courteous, and well-mannered. She has a wonderful heart and a loving soul that shines through in her personality and demeanor. "She embodies everything a Miss World should be."

Tracy will compete in the 70th Miss World pageant in Puerto Rico in December 2021, representing the Philippines.
