Since Netflix's high fantasy series The Witcher has been heavily marketed since last year, we understand if The Witcher Hype is starting to wear thin on you. Geralt and Ciri of Rivia will once again grace our televisions.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Andrzej Sapkowski's books provide the basis for Season 2 of The Witcher, which premieres on Netflix on December 17th. Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Joey Batey, and Kim Bodnia round out the cast, with the latter playing Vesemir's mother, Princess Ciri.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is also a prequel on Netflix; however, this one is a live-action series, and it takes place far earlier than Nightmare of the Wolf. This game takes place 1,200 years before The Witcher's universe, and it tells the tale of how the first prototype Witcher came to be, as well as the events that led to the 'conjunction of the spheres,' in which monsters, men, and elves all came together to become one.
This December, "The Witcher" actor Kristofer Hivju will join Netflix's medieval-inspired fantasy series "The Witcher," but he will look very different.
Hivju will play a gang boss named Nivellen in the show's premiere episode. In the novels, there are several instances when Nivellen has been shown as sexually assaulting a female victim during a robbery who afterward reveals herself to be a priestess of the Coram Agh Tera Cult of the Lionhead Spider. Her final curse on Nivellen is to turn him into a "monster in a monster's skin" rather than the "monster in a man's flesh" he was before.
Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivia in "The Witcher", has given fans a glimpse inside the craziness that went into making the monster.
While filming season 2 of The Witcher, Cavill took a risk by playing Nivellen without any make-up or visual effects, as seen by the photo posted on Instagram. The entire family is really proud of you, Kristofer.
Season 2 of "The Witcher," which was plagued by many COVID-related development delays, has an official description as follows: There is a story about Geralt of Rivia, who is sure that Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) has died at the Battle of Sodden. In order to keep Princess Cirilla safe, Geralt of Rivia takes her to Kaer Morhen, his boyhood home. Within its gates, the most powerful beings in the world battle it out for dominion. He must save the child from an even more significant threat: the strange force that lies within her.
The returning actors for "The Witcher" Season 2 are Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Tom Canton, and Theric Wilson-Read. Newcomers include Jeremy Crawford, Eamon Farren, Mahesh Jadu, Terence Maynard, Lars Mikkelsen, and Mimî M Khayisa.
There are several new faces in the cast this season than fans anticipate, including Hivju's co-star Yasen Atour and Vereena's actress Agnes Born, Lambert's actor Paul Bullion, and Eskel's actor Basil Eidenbenz. Other newcomers include Lydia's actress Aisha Fabienne Ross, Francesca's actor Mecia Simson, and Vesemir's actor Kim Bodnia.
Blood Origin's prequel series also gave us a first look behind the scenes with a set tour and a teaser to catch fans up on season 1, including some new footage from the forthcoming season. Blood Origin premieres on January 25th, 2019.
Meanwhile, we can catch up on season 1 of The Witcher on Netflix or sing Toss a coin as we wait for season 2.
